Women are naturally vain (in a positive way). They spend a lot of money for skin care products to make them feel and look good. However, men should realize that they, too, have to take extra care of their skin. Basically, men have oilier skin and larger pores than women. They are also involved in a lot of physical activities which expose them to dirt. Since they have larger pores, dirt, debris, and some other pollutants may clog these in the course of time. Therefore, they also need to follow some skin care tips to maintain a soft, smooth, and glowing skin that they deserve.
Skin Care Tips Men Should Know
No matter how well-defined your muscles are, the first thing that people oftentimes notice is your skin. Therefore, aside from going to the gym to enhance your shape, you should also take time to pamper your skin as well. The following are the skin care tips that men should know in order to achieve a healthy, glowing, younger-looking, and vibrant skin.
Follow a skin care regimen.
It's not only women who need to follow this beauty regimen. Men also have to cleanse, exfoliate, tone, and moisturize their skin.
Choose a facial cleanser that is made from natural and organic substances, which cleanses your skin, without sloughing off natural oils and moisture. Wash your face with lukewarm water to open the pores, preparing the skin for deep cleansing and exfoliating. Remember not to wash your face with hot or cold water, as these will cause the capillaries to rupture, leaving an aesthetically undesirable appearance. For your whole body, use handmade soaps that are emollient, and lock in moisture in the skin. Avoid using commercial soaps that contain harsh chemicals, leaving your skin dry, itchy, and tight.
Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. There are natural exfoliants for the face that leave a soft and smooth feeling. Use body scrubs or exfoliant soaps for your body to wash away dirt, debris, and pollutants that easily stick to your skin. Choose one that comes from an organic source, making sure that it's gentle and will not damage your skin. In choosing for body scrubs, make your skin type as your basis.
To maintain the elasticity of your skin, use alcohol-free toner. These help reduce pores, leaving a smooth, even and younger-looking complexion. Residual excess oils and dirt left after washing your face will be removed by toner.
Never forget to moisturize your skin. Use light natural moisturizers to seal the moisture in your skin, and at the same time, nourishing, rejuvenating, and revitalizing it as well. This is the advantage of natural and organic products because you can get a lot of benefits out of a single product.
Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of vegetables and fruits.
Six to eight glasses of water a day, if really active you may need more. This will help hydrate your skin.
Foods rich in Vitamins A, C and E, minerals such as zinc and selenium, contain high fiber, and have essential proteins and amino acids will help maintain a healthy skin.
Protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun.
Use sunscreen lotions with at least an SPF of 15, especially to your face. Avoid too much exposure to the sun as this may thicken fine lines.
Exercise regularly.
As you sweat, you remove toxins from your inner body. Exercise enhances blood circulation and increases oxygen delivery to the tissues, thereby, nourishing your skin. It also clears your pores.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Avoid drinking too much alcohol, smoking, stress, and fatigue. All of these decrease blood flow, leading to premature aging.
