Summer spells out fun, but it can also pose potential danger to the skin, too. Enjoying the summer time is good; however, you need to know the following skin care tips to protect yourself from summer nightmare.
Cleanse
Your skin has to be cleansed every morning and evening to slough off dirt, perspiration, and pollutants that have the tendency to clog the pores. It is important to note that you should go for natural or organic cleansers that wash away harmful elements without stripping the skin of its moisture. This should also be hypoallergenic, especially when your skin is sensitive to strong chemicals. For dry or sensitive skin, wash daily your face with warm water, and use mild natural facial cleanser. If you have normal or oily skin, tap water and natural gentle cleanser would do. Don't pull the skin when massaging facial cleanser into it. Your fingers should move in a circular motion, upward and outward in direction. For normal skin, wash it daily for about 2-3 times; however, for oily skin, you may need to cleanse it 4-5 times everyday. For your whole body, since taking a bath daily is part of personal hygiene, use natural and organic handmade soaps to retain the moisture in your skin, leaving it soft, smooth, and silky to touch. Avoid soaps with strong chemicals that are harsh to the skin.
Exfoliate
Pamper your skin with body scrubs and exfoliating soaps that are made from natural and organic ingredients which gently remove dead skin cells and other debris, without drying it. Use this once or twice a week only. For dry and sensitive skin, use natural sugar body scrubs while bathing to help prevent skin over-drying or irritation. There are natural exfoliants that are suitable for the face, too. These act by scrubbing away the top layer of dead skin cell, leaving it soft, smooth, and glowing. Just make sure that it's noncomedogenic, which does not clog pores. Exfoliating is good for oily or normal skin, but it should be done with caution for dry or sensitive skin
Tone
Tonic lotions and toners refine the pores. Choose one that's all natural and enriched with Vitamins C and E that have antioxidant properties, which protects the skin cells from free radicals and delays aging. Avoid using alcohol-based toner on the skin. It will strip the skin of its natural moisture, leaving it rough and dry. Toners can be highly sensitizing to some, always test on a small area first.
Moisturize
Apply moisturizer daily, all year round, to hydrate the skin, retaining its moisture, and maintaining its elasticity and flexibility. Skin has the tendency to become oilier during summer. It is because humidity increases, thereby, increasing the moisture content in the skin. Light moisturizers should be used. To protect you from the harmful rays of the sun, use a water-resistant sunscreen lotion at least with an SPF of 15. Spread it all over your body 20 minutes before going to the beach, and reapply it every 2 hours or even after swimming and sweating. You can also get that beautiful glowing sun-kissed skin without exposing yourself to the sun by applying tanning lotions.
